U of R Swimming & Diving Falls to CMS

The University of Redlands swimming & diving teams traveled to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday morning, competing in one of the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) dual-meets of the campaign.  While going up against top-notch competition, the Bulldog men fell, 46-197, while the U of R women lost 69-172.

On the men's side, senior Patrick Wall (St. Louis, MO) registered a third-place finish in the 1650 Free, touching the wall in 17:32.56.  Not long after, junior Eric LoPrete (Beaverton, OR) finished as Redlands' top swimmer in the 200 Free with a time of 1:49.22.

In the 50 Free, the duo of seniors Brent Reed (Dublin, CA) and Spencer Peugh (Alamo, CA) took second and third place with swift marks of 22.26 and 22.38, respectively.  Reed also swam well in the 100 Free, taking fourth overall with a mark of 49.05.

Additionally, junior Jeff Depew (Naperville, IL) clocked in a time of 4:15.79 in the 400 IM for the Maroon and Gray, earning him the third-best mark in the event.

In the 200 Fly, senior David Ortyn (Bainbridge Island, WA) notched another third-place finish for Redlands with a time of 2:00.75.

In the diving events for the Bulldogs, freshman Miko Mallari (Palo Alto, CA) performed best with a third-place finish in the three meter dive (186.35), and a fourth-place mark in the one-meter event (156.30).

On the women's side, sophomore Lauren Robeznieks (Tigard, OR) shined for the Bulldogs with a winning time of 1:59.54 in the 200 Free.

Junior Chandra Lukes (Escondido, CA) also swam effectively, notching another first-place finish for Redlands in the 100 Free with a time of 54.22.  Additionally, Lukes took second place overall in the 50 Free, losing by just 0.02 seconds and clocking in a time of 24.58.

Elsewhere, junior Summer Harp (San Bernardino, CA) nabbed a third-place mark for the U of R in the 1650 Free, uncorking a time of 18:37.53.  Touching the wall and earning third-place points for Redlands later on in the meet was freshman Ellie Jaques (Covina, CA) with a time of 4:43.38 in the 400 IM.

Sophomores Kaitlin Kehoe (San Marcos, CA) and Bailey Clem (Napa, CA) both registered solid marks in the 500 Free, scoring points for the Maroon and Gray and taking third (5:39.88) and fourth place (5:41.95), respectively.

Finally, closing out the day in the pool for the Bulldogs, freshman Savannah Long (Kennesaw, GA) took third overall in the 200 Back (2:20.72), while fellow freshman Jessica Rivers (Renton, WA) placed second in the 200 Breast (2:33.77).

In the diving events, freshman Jessica Kolsky (Red Wing, MN) performed well with a second-place finish in the one-meter dive (195.15) and a third-place mark in the three-meter event (189.20).

Redlands competes in its final home meet of the season on Saturday when it hosts Occidental College and Chapman University in a Tri-Meet.  Events are scheduled to begin at the Thompson Aquatic Center at 10 a.m.
