U of R Softball Draws Birmingham-Southern at ETBU Regional in Marshall, Texas

After securing the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (SCIAC) automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, the University of Redlands softball team now heads to Marshall, Texas, to face Birmingham-Southern College (27-6) at the East Texas Baptist University Regional on Friday, May 21, at 2 p.m. PDT.

Redlands returns to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2014.  Amidst a pandemic-challenged season, the Bulldogs put together a solid 14-5 overall record, with four of those losses coming to NCAA Division II opponents.  The Bulldogs went 11-1 in conference and won the program's first SCIAC Postseason Tournament championship since 2011.

Redlands' opening opponent, Birmingham-Southern (29-5), gained the automatic bid out of the Southern Athletic Conference by capturing its third tournament title.

The ETBU Regional also includes the host school facing Eastern Nazarene College (MA) and Salisbury University (MD) squaring off against Ohio Northern University.

The six-team NCAA Regional Championships take place at eight campus sites this weekend, beginning either Thursday or Friday.
