Bulldog Softball Tabbed SCIAC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week for Third Time This Season

The University of Redlands softball team swept Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competitor Cal Lutheran University over the weekend with wins of 6-1, 11-1, and 10-2.  First-year pitcher Ali Borden (Santa Barbara, CA) secured Pitcher of the Week, while sophomore catcher Megan Watkins (Beaumont, CA) snagged Hitter of the Week.

Borden made two appearances over the weekend including the 10-2, game three victory where she racked up five innings of work and allowed two unearned runs. Over a combined 7.2 innings of work, Borden only allowed five hits, three walks, and struck out seven for an impressive outing.

Watkins was magnificent at the plate, going 6-for-8 for an incredible .750 batting average. She registered four extra-base hits (three doubles and a triple), scored four runs, and tallied six RBI. She also stole two bases, registered an on-base percentage of .818 and a slugging percentage of 1.375.
