U of R Softball Collects 11 NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete Awards for Academic Success

It was officially announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) that 11 University of Redlands softball players earned NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors, as determined by their cumulative GPAs during the 2018-19 academic year. In order to qualify, individuals must earn a 3.5 or higher as a member of a softball program.

Redlands is one of seven Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) softball programs among the record-breaking 8,161 student-athletes to garner this recognition across seven membership divisions, including NCAA Divisions I, II, and III: NAIA; high school (weighted and unweighted); and junior colleges.

The Bulldogs' honorees include now-graduated pitchers Mika Imoto '19 (Vista, CA) and Lindsey Mifsud (Belmont, CA), outfielder Jennifer Ng (Pleasanton, CA), catcher Nova Siegel (Fairfield, CA) and second baseman Jordyn Smith (Highland, CA) who competed admirably for the Bulldogs throughout their respective careers. Imoto completed her degree in Environmental Business, while Mifsud and Siegel earned their bachelor's in Sociology/Anthropology. Ng studied Business Administration in her four years and Smith graduated with a degree in Communicative Disorders.

Junior outfielder Jaci Sanchez (Lakewood, CA) also represents the Maroon and Gray among the awardees and looks forward to her final campaign at Redlands in the upcoming season.

She is joined by sophomore outfielder Jazzy Parada (San Jose, CA), first-year outfielder Brooks McVicker (Fort Collins, CO), first-year infielders Jessica Torosian (Thousand Oaks, CA) and Aya Smith (Redlands, CA) and first-year catcher Rani Lauwers (Mountain View, CA) as recipients of this scholarly distinction.
