It was announced earlier today that the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) named junior left fielder Jaci Sanchez (Lakewood, CA) as the Hitter of the Week as a strong contributor in the University of Redlands softball team's 4-4 week that included a 3-1 showing against conference foes. She tallied .435 batting average and 10 RBI in a solid week.
Sanchez began the week by driving in three runs with a triple against Alfred University (NY) on Monday. In the backend of the doubleheader, Sanchez went 3-for-3 at the plate to help bring in two RBI in a 10-2 win. On Saturday, she also batted 1.000 with two hits, including a double, and supplied one RBI in an 11-3 win at Cal Lutheran University. She followed that up with a triple in game two to record another three RBI en route to the 4-1 win over the Regals. To end the week, she earned a hit in both games of a split against Whittier College.
Overall, Sanchez paces the squad and currently sits fifth in the conference with 22 hits. She is the only player on the team with a double (6), a triple (1), and a home run (1). She also leads the Bulldogs with a .541 slugging percentage and ranks third with a .361 batting average.
