Redlands Rewind with Tor Cole: November 16, 2019

In the final Redlands Rewind for fall sports, junior Tor Cole shares his perspective on one of many amazing memories from his experience with the University of Redlands men's water polo team.

"The most memorable game for me must be when we beat Chapman at home [last season]. It was important because it would clinch our fourth-seed position into the SCIAC tournament," Cole commented.

This game had plenty of drama and excitement.  Besides celebrating Senior Day, the 10-9 Bulldog victory came down to the buzzer with a game-winning goal from All-American Spencer Allen '19 and an incredible defensive effort late in the game.

But there was more to it, as Cole explained.  "The icing on the cake, what made this game so incredible, was the fact that it was Head Coach Tom Whittemore's last home game as our coach. The fact that we were able to have such an amazing game for him, for us and the crowd, makes this game unforgettable. [At the time,] we did not know it was Tom's last game."

An incredible sendoff indeed.

Whittemore went on to coach the Bulldogs in their first trip to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament before announcing his retirement in December.
