The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced its weekly awards on Monday afternoon and sophomore goalkeeper Chris Martinez (Santa Ana, CA) represented the University of Redlands men's water polo team as the Defensive Athlete of the Week. 

Behind Martinez' solid play in the cage, the Bulldogs captured a 16-9 win over Occidental College and an 11-6 win over Chapman University last week to stay in the hunt for one of four postseason spots. During the Halloween victory against the Tigers, Martinez made 11 stops in 27:35 of action as the starter.  He also nabbed two steals in a valiant effort.  Against the Panthers, Martinez corralled a career-tying 17 saves, which included seven saves in the second quarter alone, to go along with one steal.  

The Bulldogs (14-14, 8-5 SCIAC) travel to Whittier College for the regular-season finale against the Poets on Saturday, November 10, at 11 a.m.
