Hester had a tough test in his opening set at No. 1 having to pull out a breaker 7-6 but was able to cruise in the second 6-2. Reznik who has found his way back into the singles lineup at No. 6 needed a three setter to win. After splitting 6-3, 3-6 was able to pull out a 10-4 super tiebreaker to grab another point for UR. Yip followed at No. 3 needing a breaker in the first frame but was able to grab that 7-6 (8) before rolling 6-2 in the second. The final match on was Josh Nelson (Montrose, NY) at No. 5 who also was tested with a three setter. After taking the first set 6-4 was broken late in the second at 7-5, which sent the match into a third set breaker. He was able to prevail though taking the match and preserving the clean sweep winning 10-4.
Coach's Thoughts
"Really happy with the way our men came out in doubles against a very strong Whitman team. I think that set the tone for singles and we never let Whitman back into the match after going ahead 3-0."
Coach's Shoutout
"Andrew Yip picked up a pair of nice wins today and had a good test early in the first set. But I was happy to see him compete and get the job done. He has been working really hard and it showed today."
