Cummins and Libao Tabbed 2020 ITA All-Americans

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) officially announced on Wednesday that senior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and junior Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) have earned All-America status, which caps off an already impressive 2019-20 season for the University of Redlands duo.  Not only did the tandem finish second in the final Oracle/ITA Collegiate Men's Tennis Doubles Rankings, but Cummins and Libao won the ITA Fall Regional Tournament and advanced to the national championship of the ITA Oracle Cup.

At the 2019-20 Fall ITA West Regional Championships in Claremont, Cummins and Libao defeated opponents from Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (8-3), Cal Lutheran University (8-5), and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (CMS) (8-6) to advance to the semifinal, where they won 8-3 over another CMS pair. They then squared off against Caltech in the championship and came away with a 6-2, 6-4 victory to be named the Men's Open Doubles Champions.

Two weeks after that victory, the duo battled all the way to the Division III Doubles final match of the ITA Oracle Cup in Roma, Georgia, but fell just short in a 7-6(7), 6-7(6), 6-4 result against Case Western Reserve University (OH).

During the shortened spring season, Cummins and Libao defeated their counterparts from No. 30 Southwestern University (TX), 8-2, and Division II Biola University, 8-4. As the Bulldogs went on a three-match win streak against No. 36 Washington and Lee University (VA) (6-3), Christopher Newport University (VA) (7-2), and Hardin-Simmons University (TX) (9-0), the No. 1 doubles tandem prevailed in each match by scores of 8-5, 8-1, and 8-1, respectively.
