No. 18 U of R Men's Tennis Soars Past Westmont 6-1

The No. 18 University of Redlands men's tennis team headed to Santa Barbara and cruised to a 6-1 victory over NAIA competitor, Westmont College, on Saturday afternoon. 

After the No. 2 tandem of sophomores Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) took the first game of doubles, the Warriors tied things up at the No. 1 spot. Nonetheless, senior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) and first-year Michael Cabacungan (Palm Springs, CA) rallied to a 6-4 victory take the point in doubles.

Junior Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) made quick work at No. 4 singles taking the match, 6-0, 6-0. Yip followed close behind with a dominating 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 adding another point for the Bulldogs.

First-year Donovan Lilov (San Diego, CA) solidified the Maroon and Gray win at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-2 match-clinching victory.

Cabacungan and Leahy also had great wins at No. 6 and No. 1, respectively. Cabacungan won by a 6-3, 6-1 score and Leahy battled to a 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 victory.

Redlands men's tennis is set to take on No. 30 Southwestern (TX) on Saturday, February 15, at 1 p.m.
