The No. 18 University of Redlands men's tennis team jumped into action on Saturday by heading to Division II Point Loma Nazarene University for an exhibition match in San Diego. In tightly contested doubles and singles matches, the Bulldogs held steadfast to take the 4-3 win.

In doubles, the No. 2 and No. 3 tandems of sophomores Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) and senior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) and first-year Michael Cabacungan (Palm Springs, CA) both prevailed in 6-4 decisions to put Redlands on the board.

The Sea Lions captured the first singles win but senior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) answered with his 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6. However, Point Loma battled back and won the next two matches to tie things up.

Nonetheless, Yip remained relentless at No. 5 to take the deciding match in thrilling fashion, 7-6 (4) and 7-6 (5).

Redlands heads to Santa Barbara to take on NAIA competitor, Westmont College, in an exhibition match on Saturday, February 8, at 1 p.m.
