Geoff Roche Named ITA/Wilson Division III West Region Men's Tennis Coach of the Year

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the regional award-winners on Tuesday night, with University of Redlands' Head Coach Geoff Roche being selected as the ITA/Wilson Division III West Region Men's Coach of the Year.

During the 2019 season, Roche guided the Bulldogs to a 13-6 overall record, with six wins coming against ranked foes, to go along with a 5-2 mark in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action.  In addition, Redlands returned to the ITA/NCAA Division III National Rankings at No. 34 on March 19.  The Maroon and Gray went on to climb the elite list to No. 21.

This season, the Bulldogs gained three All-SCIAC honorees in senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA), junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA), and first-year Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA).  Redlands advanced to the SCIAC Postseason Tournament as the three-seed, making its inaugural appearance in the second year of the event.   Finally, Roche looks forward to joining Lipscomb, junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA), and sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) at the NCAA Division III Individual Championships in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for competition on May 24-26.

Throughout the season, the Bulldogs also received incredible coaching support from assistants Erik Lundblad, who has worked with Roche since 2002, and Sean Comadena, one of Roche's teammates at Redlands.

Roche originally received this coaching distinction following the 2005 season.
