The No. 21 University of Redlands men's tennis team hauled in three All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) awards, as voted upon by the head coaches of the member institutions. Senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) headlines the trio by becoming a four-time, First-Team All-Conference selection. In addition, junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) and first-year Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) represent the Bulldogs on the Second Team with their inaugural awards.
As Redlands' No. 1 singles player, Lipscomb caps off his fourth conference season with a 4-3 mark that included all four wins in straight sets. His biggest triumph against a SCIAC opponent came against the No. 1 player from top-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on April 12, when Lipscomb cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 decision.
In addition to earning a First-Team nod each year of his career, Lipscomb was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2015-16.
Lipscomb and Leahy joined forces at the No. 3 doubles spot to earn a 4-2 mark against conference foes. They helped the Bulldogs complete the doubles sweep in four of the team's five SCIAC wins.
Leahy also contributed to the success of the squad's singles by competing at the highest position of his career so far at No. 2. He captured wins against SCIAC counterparts from Cal Lutheran University and Chapman University.
While earning his first award in his first season, Reznik secured a 4-3 record in conference matches, with three wins coming at the No. 3 slot and one at No. 2. In addition, he provided steady play in doubles at the No. 2 spot with fellow first-year Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI). The dynamic duo put together a 5-2 showing in SCIAC action, including a critical 8-7 (4) victory over the Caltech counterparts en route to the Bulldogs' 5-4 win.
