The No. 22 University of Redlands men's tennis team traveled to Cal Lutheran University on Saturday for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against the Kingsmen.  The Bulldogs came out on top of a 7-2 decision with solid scores throughout the lineup.

Redlands struck first with an 8-4 win by sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) and junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) at the No. 1 spot in doubles.  Junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) and senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) gave the Bulldogs another point with their 8-4 victory at No. 3.

Although the Kingsmen won at No. 2, the Bulldogs held a 2-1 advantage heading into the singles.

Redlands made quick work of the first four matches off the court to seal the overall win.  First, Libao rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 5 before Leahy knocked off his No. 2 opponent, 6-2, 6-1.  Cummins secured the deciding point by defeating his No. 4 counterpart, 6-4, 6-2.  In addition, first-year Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) registered a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 3.

After CLU won at No. 1, the Bulldogs gained a 7-5, 7-6(6) showing from first-year Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) on the sixth court to complete the 7-2 triumph.

Redlands (11-3, 3-0 SCIAC) heads to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday, April 12, for a 3 p.m. SCIAC match against the fourth-ranked Stags.
