The No. 34 University of Redlands men's tennis team captured a 6-3 win over Southwestern University (TX) in Monday's afternoon match on Verdieck Courts.  After sweeping the doubles, the Bulldogs relied on their depth to secure three of the singles points with wins at Nos. 4, 5, and 6.

Redlands jumped out to a 3-0 lead with solid results throughout the doubles lineup.  First, the top tandem of sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) and junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) earned an 8-2 win, while senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA) tallied an 8-6 victory at No. 3.  First-years Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) completed the sweep with their 8-5 decision at the No. 2 spot.

In singles, Redlands stretched its lead to 4-0 when Libao secured a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5.

However, the Pirates cut the gap in half by winning at Nos. 3 and 1.

Nonetheless, Reznik responded with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph at No. 4 to put this one in the books for the Bulldogs.

Yip also prevailed in singles as he defeated his No. 6 foe, 6-3, 6-3.

Redlands (5-2) hosts No. 3 Bowdoin College (ME) on Wednesday, March 20, in a 3 p.m. non-conference showdown on Verdieck Courts.
