With the help of a sweep in singles action, the University of Redlands men's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over Rhodes College (TN) in Thursday's non-conference showdown on Verdieck Courts.

Junior Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) took care of business with an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles to get things going. First-years Thomas Reznik (Belmont, CA) and Andrew Yip (Honolulu, HI) joined forces to take down their No.3 counterpart, 8-4, for Redlands' 2-1 lead.

Yip set the tone in singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6, before Reznik followed suit with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4 to put the Maroon and Gray up, 4-1.

Sophomore Brysl Libao (Redlands, CA) battled to a 6-3, 7-5 decision at No. 5 to secure the clincher for the Bulldogs.

Cummins, junior Andrew Leahy (Claremont, CA), and senior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) also earned victories to complete the Maroon and Gray's singles sweep and an 8-1 overall victory.

Redlands (1-2) competes in its third of a string of 12 home games by taking on No. 34 Christopher Newport University (VA) on Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m.
