Junior Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) represented the University of Redlands men's tennis team in fine fashion by finishing fifth at the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup in Rome, GA.  Hosted by Berry College, the All-American Bulldog finished the three-day tournament with back-to-back wins in three sets.

On Saturday morning, Lipscomb topped the University of Chicago's Jeremy Yuan in a three-set battle in the fifth-place match, 5-7, 7-6(6), 6-4.

Lipscomb started the tournament on Thursday against Williams College's (MA) Brian Grodecki but dropped a heartbreaker, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0, to set him up against the University of Texas-Tyler's Arthur Fagundes.  In Friday's action, Lipscomb rallied back to defeat Fagundes, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, for a spot in the fifth-place match.

Lipscomb punched his ticket to the ITA Oracle Cup as one of eight NCAA Division III men's singles competitors by winning the ITA West Regional Championships, which took place September 29 through October 1 in Claremont.  As a result, he also claimed ITA All-America honors for the second time in his career.

Lipscomb and the rest of the Bulldogs look forward to opening the spring portion of the tennis season on February 3 with an exhibition doubleheader against Arizona Christian University and Azusa Pacific University.
