Various members of the No. 11 University of Redlands men's tennis team traveled north to compete in the 117th Annual Ojai Valley Tournament on Friday.  After the first day of competition, the Bulldogs have two individuals and both doubles duos remaining in the main draw for NCAA Division III colleges and universities.

Seniors Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA) and Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) completed Friday's action with two wins apiece in singles.  Suchodolski defeated eighth-seeded Ransom Braaten of Cal Lutheran University by scores of 6-3, 6-0, before downing Graham Maassen of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in a 7-6(5), 7-5 decision.

Wilson faces top-seeded Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in Saturday's quarterfinals at 9 a.m.

Wilson, who is playing as the five-seed, cruised to a first-round win over Occidental College's Isaiah Bird, 6-1, 6-0.  He went on to defeat Chad Stone of UC Santa Cruz by scores of 7-6, 6-3, to advance to the quarterfinals.  He now takes on Joshua Gearou of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) opened the tournament with a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Pomona-Pitzer's Avery Bicks but came up short in the next round to UCSC's Chad LeDuff, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.

Lipscomb also joined forces with freshman Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) as the four-seed in doubles and prevailed over Alex Namba and Spencer Watanabe of George Fox University (OR) in an 8-5 showing.  The Redlands tandem takes on Parodi and Daniel Morkovine of CMS in Saturday's action.

Senior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) and junior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) also recorded a win on the day to remain in the main doubles draw.  The duo put together a strong 8-3 triumph over Caltech's Zixiao Li and Isa Kibira.  Ly and Dulle square off against UCSC's Ryan Dugan and Stone tomorrow afternoon.
