No. 10 Bulldog Men's Tennis Celebrates Senior Day with Sweeping Win over Chapman

The No. 10 University of Redlands men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Verdieck Courts with a resounding 9-0 victory over the visiting Chapman University Panthers on Saturday.  After recognizing seniors Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA), Jake Ly (Torrance, CA), and Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA), the Bulldogs put together a dominating performance at every position to secure the 9-0 win.  Later that afternoon, the team packed up and headed to UC Riverside to face the Highlanders in a non-conference tilt, which resulted in a 1-6 loss to the NCAA Division I foe.

Against the Panthers, Redlands jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead with a sweeping effort in doubles.  Ly and junior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) fired off an 8-2 victory at the top slot to get things started for the Maroon and Gray.  The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and freshman Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) also rolled to an 8-2 decision, while Wilson and Suchodolski secured a Senior Day victory in their 8-1 showing at the No. 3 position.

In singles, it was much of the same, as Dulle blanked his No. 3 opponent, 6-0, 6-0, before Lipscomb sealed the deal with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 1 slot.

Wilson, Ly, Suchodolski, and sophomore Bryant Johnson (Fair Oaks, CA) completed the perfect performance with victories in singles as well.

Redlands made the short trip to Riverside for an afternoon match against the Highlanders.  While using a revised lineup, the Bulldogs gained great experience against the competitive foes.  Lipscomb and Cummins recorded the Maroon and Gray's only doubles victory in a 6-1 showing.  However, under Division I scoring, teams earn the doubles point by taking two of the three matches.

In singles, Suchodolski forced his No. 1 foe to three sets but came up short in a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 effort.  While playing No. 3, Cummins impressed with his 5-7, 6-2, 6-0 comeback win for Redlands' only overall point.

Redlands (13-6, 5-1 SCIAC) heads to Pasadena on Saturday, April 15, for a 10 a.m. conference match against the Caltech Beavers, beginning at 10 a.m.
