No. 8 U of R Men's Tennis Prevails over UC Santa Cruz, 8-1

The No. 8 University of Redlands men's tennis team welcomed in-region foe UC Santa Cruz to Verdieck Courts on Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference showdown.  After sweeping the doubles, the Bulldogs took care of business to secure an 8-1 victory over the Banana Slugs.

The No. 2 tandem of sophomore Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and freshman Brad Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) initiated the scoring with an 8-3 decision, before senior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) and junior Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) followed suit with an 8-2 win at the top slot.  The No. 3 duo of seniors Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) and Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA) topped off the sweep in fine fashion by recording another 8-2 victory.

In singles, Lipscomb continued Redlands' momentum by taking care of business with a 6-2, 7-6(2) triumph at No. 1.  Wilson officially put this one in the books for the Bulldogs when he defeated his No. 2 counterpart, 7-5, 6-4.

In addition, Ly, Suchodolski, and Cummins each provided victories in their respective singles matches.

Redlands (11-4) kicks off the month of April by hosting a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against Cal Lutheran University at 10 a.m. on the 1st.
