No. 15 Bulldog Men's Tennis Falters to No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer on Senior Day

The No. 15 University of Redlands men's tennis team hosted the No. 10 Pomona-Pitzer Colleges Sagehens during Senior Day under cloudy skies on Verdieck Courts.  After honoring seniors Collin Black (Davidson, NC) and Nick Pizzuti (Menlo Park, CA), the Bulldogs battled until the final point but fell short of the upset in a 3-6 decision on Saturday.

Although the Sagehens jumped out to a 2-0 start in doubles, Redlands responded with a hard-fought 9-7 victory by junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) and freshman Bryant Johnson (Fair Oaks, CA) at the No. 1 slot.

The momentum stayed in the Bulldogs' favor to start the singles, as junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) evened the tally with his impressive 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3.

With the score knotted at two apiece, the Sagehens answered with three-consecutive wins, including a pair of three-setters, to secure the overall victory.

Graduate student Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA) recorded the Bulldogs' third point of the match by prevailing at No. 6 in a 7-5, 7-6(7) performance.

Redlands (16-6, 5-2 SCIAC) looks forward to hosting the first round of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship Tournament on Friday, May 6, at 3 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
