The No. 15 University of Redlands men's tennis team took to Verdieck Courts for a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, earning split results with a 6-3 win over No. 22 Tufts University (MA) and a 2-7 loss to Williams College (MA).

In the morning match, the Bulldogs responded to a 1-2 deficit in doubles by winning five of six singles matches.  Redlands' only doubles victory came off the rackets of sophomore Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA).

Freshman Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) knotted the team score with his efficient 6-3, 6-4 victory at the No. 1 slot in singles.

Sophomore Cooper Lacetera (Westhampton Beach, NY) kept the ball rolling for the Maroon and Gray by firing off a 6-4, 6-2 performance at the No. 5 position.

However, Tufts answered with a win at No. 6 to even the overall score at three apiece.

But the Bulldogs quickly responded with a solid showing at no. 4, as Ly put together a 6-2, 6-3 triumph at the No. 4 spot, while Dulle officially put this one in the books by defeating his No. 2 opponent, 7-6(6), 6-2.

In addition, junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) rallied for a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory at No. 3.

The Bulldogs returned to action later this afternoon, battling it out with 14th-ranked Williams College (MA).  After dropping all three doubles matches, Redlands mustered only two wins in singles en route to the loss.  Lipscomb remained on fire at the top slot with his 6-1, 6-4 victory, while Ly registered an impressive 6-2, 6-3 showing at No. 4.

Redlands (13-4) returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Friday, April 1, when it travels to Thousand Oaks to square off against the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran University at 3 p.m.
