The No. 18 University of Redlands men's tennis team welcomed the Sewanee (TN) Tigers to Verdieck Courts during USTA Campus Kids' Day on Saturday with hopes of extending its win-streak to six in a row.  After sweeping the doubles, the Bulldogs rallied to prevail in five of six singles matches, with three victories going the distance in three sets, en route to the 8-1 decision.

The Maroon and Gray initiated the scoring with an impressive 8-2 triumph at the No. 2 slot, as seniors Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) and Ted Burchett (Gold River, CA) made quick work of their counterparts.

Redlands kept the momentum with an 8-4 performance by the No. 3 duo of freshman Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore Jake Ly (Torrance, CA).

The sweep was complete once the top tandem of seniors Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) and Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) captured a 9-7 win.

In singles, Redlands continued to roll with Lipscomb's 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 1.

Leading 4-0, the Bulldogs needed just one more match to clinch the overall triumph.  This time, Dulle stepped up at No. 4 by registering a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 win.

With the match in hand, Redlands also gained positive outcomes at Nos. 2, 3, and 5, with Cummins notching the only straight-set showing with his 6-4, 7-5 effort at the No. 2 slot.

Overall, the Bulldogs (9-3) have won eight out of their last nine competitions, dating back to February 14.  Redlands next squares off against No. 10 Bowdoin College (ME) on Tuesday, March 17, at 2 p.m. on Verdieck Courts.
