No. 21 U of R Men’s Tennis Rolls to 7-2 Win over No. 31 Brandeis University (MA) in Home-Opener

The No. 21 University of Redlands men's tennis team competed in the friendly surroundings of Verdieck Courts for the first time this season, taking on No. 31 Brandeis University (MA) on Friday afternoon.  After winning two of the three doubles matches, the Bulldogs cruised through five of the six singles matches to secure a 7-2 win over the Judges.

In doubles, freshman Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and sophomore Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) teamed up for an impressive 8-1 win at the No. 3 slot, before seniors Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) captured an 8-4 decision at the top slot.

After Brandeis came up with a win at the No.2 position, the Bulldogs reestablished their momentum with four-consecutive, straight-set victories in singles for the team's fourth triumph of the season.  Senior Gram Leahy (Portland, OR) unleashed a solid 6-0, 6-1 showing at the No. 6 spot, while Cummins fired off a 6-0, 6-4 performance at No. 2.  Leading 4-2 overall, the Maroon and Gray looked to Lipscomb (6-4, 6-3) and Dulle (6-1, 6-1) to effectively take care of business at Nos. 2 and 5, respectively.

In addition, sophomore Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) rallied back for 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 spot to grab the Bulldogs' seventh overall point in the match scoring.

Redlands (4-3) enjoys a short break from the action before welcoming Christopher Newport University (VA) to Verdieck Courts on Thursday, March 5, for a 2 p.m. non-conference match.
