ORANGE, Calif. – The University of Redlands Men's Soccer team traveled to Orange County Wednesday for an afternoon game against Chapman University.

After 90:00 minutes a PK late in the second half would prove the difference as the Bulldogs would fall 1-0, moving to 4-5-3, 3-4-1 SCIAC.

The Bulldogs had a slow offensive start with their first attacking opportunity coming in the 20th minute when Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, NV) forced a save from CU keeper Chandler Siemonsma. Spencer Palmer (San Diego, CA) got the Bulldogs' second shot, but it went wide.

In the 29th minute Seth Lawrence (Redlands, CA) was tested stopping a shot that was headed to the top left corner of the goal.

The third look for UR came in the 37th minute when Phillip Kostenko (Zelenokumsk, Russia) attempted a shot to the bottom right corner, but Siemonsma would make the stop keeping the game scoreless at half.

Redlands started the second half on their heels as the Panthers had three of the first four attempts including one that Lawrence saved to his left in the 55th minute. Then over the course of sixty seconds, each team's keeper came up with a big save to maintain the scoreless tie. Lawrence made a stop in the 60th after Kostenko had his shot saved.

In the middle of the half, the game got choppy with five fouls and a yellow card being issued, but the biggest moment came in the 76th when Redlands committed a foul in the box, awarding Chapman a penalty kick, which they would finish putting them top.

Despite having to rally and push forward, the Bulldogs only managed two shots over the final 14 minutes with the lone attempt on-goal coming from Kostenko who tried to beat the Chapman keeper to his left but again Siemonsma was up to the task and preserved the 1-0 victory.

The Bulldogs had seven shots with four on-goal, three of which came from Kostenko. Each team had four corners and the Panthers held a 9-7 shot advantage. The lack of attacking chances could be attributed to the lack of rhythm with 28 total fouls (19 on Chapman) and five yellows (four on Chapman).

The Bulldogs will get a chance to bounce back following a bye this weekend with a home game against the University of La Verne on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00pm.
