The University of Redlands men's soccer took on non-conference competitor, Azusa Pacific University, on Wednesday night in an exhibition game. The Bulldog offense scored twice early while the defense maintained control and composure the rest of the way, ultimately winning by a score of 2-1.

On a counter-attack in the eighth minute, first-year defender Skylar Darwen (Los Angeles, CA) raced the ball towards goal and slipped a nice through ball to junior midfielder Steve Acuña (Pico Rivera, CA) who found the back of the net for the early 1-0 advantage.

Just over 10 minutes later, the Bulldogs blasted a high, free-kick that senior defender Mikey Flota (West Covina, CA) tracked, jumped up, and headed it on-frame. The Cougar goalkeeper knocked it away but Acuña was in the right place at the right time and tapped it in for a 2-0 score.

Although APU cut the deficit in half in the 80th minute, Redlands' stingy defense held steadfast in the final minutes and headed home with an exciting, 2-1 win.

No other statistics are available at this time.

Redlands finished its modified spring schedule with a 3-0 record in exhibition matches and looks forward to starting afresh in August with a traditional fall season.
