First-year Goalkeeper Adrian Muñoz Secures First Defensive Athlete of the Week Award

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) office released its weekly award winners and first-year goalkeeper Adrian Muñoz (Pasadena, CA) was named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his young career.

Muñoz rose to the occasion for a 0-0 draw against No. 16 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Saturday. Through 110 minutes and playing a man down for 84 of those minutes, he stepped up to make eight saves. Notably, Muñoz made four challenging saves over an 11-minute span down the stretch of regulation, one of which included a point-blank header.

Overall, Muñoz owns a .778 save percentage, which ranks fourth in the SCIAC. He also currently ranks fifth in the conference with 235 saves.
