U of R Men’s Golf Makes Significant Moves at Warrior Invite | Finish 5th (315-295)

LAS VEGAS, NV – The University of Redlands Men's Golf team made their biggest jump between rounds this season at the Winona State University Warrior Invitational going 315-295 (+34 - 610), which jumped them seven spots in the standings finishing in a tie for 5th

The two-day event took place in Las Vegas, NV at Stallion Mountain Golf Club, which played 7062 Yards.  After Day 1 the Bulldogs found themselves sitting in 12th Place after shooting a 315, but managed to shave off ten strokes from their total, shooting a 295 across the final 18 holes, which moved them up past Missouri Western State (7th – 613), Winona State University (B-Team) (8th – 616), South Dakota School of Mines (8th – 616), La Verne (10th – 617), Bemidji State (11th – 622), Miles College (12th – 630), Northeast CC (13th – 632), Concordia (NE) (14th – 643), University of St. Mary (15th – 658), and University of Sioux Falls (16th – 685).

They were hot on the heels of host Winona State University (4th – 607) and tied with Westminster College (UT) (5th – 610).  The top three teams included McKendree University (1st – 598), Northeastern State (1st – 598), and Washburn (1st – 598).

The top finisher for the Maroon and Grey was senior Kyle Sharp (Laguna Beach, CA) who was consistent over the two days at a 76-75 (151), which placed him 12th overall.  Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) made the biggest jump out of any Redlands golfer improving 12 strokes across the two days going from an 83 to a 71 (154), finishing in a tie for 34th.  The other three golfers for the U of R all finished in a tie together at 40thJared Stone (American Canyon, CA) improved one stroke with a 78-77 (155), Jake Yim (Lake Oswego, OR) put together a big push on the second day with an 83-72 (155), which included three birdies and an eagle and Ben Cowan (Orange, OH) was similar to Stone where he posted a 78-77 (155).         

Redlands continues with their March schedule next weekend, March 18-20 when they travel to Jekyll Island, GA for the Jekyll Island Invitational.
