Fambro Wins Athlete of the Year to Highlight Bulldogs' Three All-SCIAC Awards

It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands was well represented among the 2021 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Golf Team, with sophomore Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) headlining the honorees as the Athlete of the Year.  In addition to Fambro, junior Kyle Sharp (Laguna Beach, CA) and junior Jared Stone (American Canyon, CA) became members of the All-SCIAC Team.

Fambro and Sharp jockeyed for the lead position among the Bulldogs' scorecard throughout the pandemic-shortened season.  They each earned an average score of 73.29 among the seven conference rounds, with Fambro posting a season-low of 68 at the opening tournament.  Sharp also impressed during that outing by recording a 69.  The duo finished one-two at SCIAC Tournament #1 and then again at SCIAC Tournament #2, with Sharp winning both events.  Furthermore, Fambro finished atop the leaderboard at the three-day SCIAC Championship Tournament with a score of 224, while Sharp posted a 54-hole total of 228 for sixth place.

Sharp repeats as an All-Conference honoree after being named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2019.

In addition, Stone provided solid results for the Maroon and Gray, finishing fourth at the first two conference tournaments and then taking seventh at the SCIAC Championships.  He averaged 76 in the seven rounds while earning a season-low of 73, which came at SCIAC Tournament #2.
