Sophomore Joshua Fambro Earns Medalist Honors to Lead No. 23 Bulldogs to Second-Place Finish at 2021 SCIAC Championships

The University of Redlands men's golf team took the course at Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills for the third and final day of the 2021 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships. In a tight race for the top, the Bulldogs shot a 307 on the final day to finish in second place, only two strokes behind Chapman. The team shot minus-two on par-fives.

Sophomore Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) led the tournament wire-to-wire and reigned supreme on the individual side by hauling in medalist honors with a score of 224 (73-74-77) through 54 holes. His 74 was the lowest score amongst all competitors on day two. Throughout the tournament, Fambro fired off 36 pars.

Juniors Kyle Sharp (Laguna Beach, CA) and Jared Stone (American Canyon, CA) followed in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Sharp shot a 228 and stayed consistent over the three days with scores of 76, 75, and 77. He led the field with 11 birdies and shot even on par-five holes. Stone signed his scorecard with a 230 (75-77-78) en route to co-leading the tournament with 38 pars.

Junior Ryan Crema (Surrey, England) recorded the tournament's only eagle on the 18th hole on the final day to enter the clubhouse in tied-for-eighth place, 233 (77-78-78). He led the way shooting minus-three on par-five holes for a 4.75 average.

Junior Connor Tran (Gilroy, CA) left it all on the course by moving up four spots on the final day to tie-for-10th. He improved each day for a 234 total (81-78-75) and averaged 4.83 for a minus-two on par fives.

Redlands now hopes for an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, which will take place in Wheeling, West Virginia, from May 11-14. The announcement will be made on Monday, May 3.
