The University of Redlands men's golf team hosted Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competitors Chapman University and Cal Lutheran University at the Bulldog Classic at The S Club in Rancho Mirage on Saturday and Sunday. The team notched a winning score of 590 (296-294) over the 36 holes.
Junior Kyle Sharp (Laguna Beach, CA) led the charge, taking the top podium spot with a first-place score of 142. Sharp stayed consistent over the two days with a pair of 71s. He also co-led the field shooting minus-one on par fours while also registering 24 pars.
Sophomore Joshua Fambro (Taos, NM) and junior Jared Stone (American Canyon, CA) followed in a one-two punch in fourth and fifth place, respectively. Fambro shot a 76 and regrouped to shave five strokes off on day two for a 71 and 147 total. Stone entered the clubhouse just one stroke behind Fambro with a pair of 74s (148). Stone ranked first among competitors shooting minus-four on par fives while also tallying nine birdies.
Additionally, junior Ryan Crema (Surrey, England) impressed on day two with the only eagle in the tournament on the par-five 11th hole. He ended the two rounds signing his scorecard with a 153 (75-78) for seventh place. He also tied-for-third with 22 pars.
Rounding out the Bulldog golfers was junior Connor Tran (Gilroy, CA) who came in 14th place with a 168 total.
Redlands looks forward to hosting the SCIAC No. 2 Tournament at the Morongo Golf Club at Tukwet Canyon on Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11, at 8 a.m.
