Senior Jake Hollander's Medalist Honor Leads No. 13 Men's Golf to Second-Place Finish at Bulldog Fall Invitational

The No. 13 University of Redlands men's golf team opened its 2019 fall season at the Bulldog Fall Invitational at The S Club in Rancho Mirage on Saturday and Sunday, September 21st and 22nd.

The team shot an impressive 868 (290-292-286) over three rounds to take second place in a solid showing on opening weekend. Redlands led the field shooting 27-under on par fives for a 4.55 average.

Senior Jake Hollander (Peterborough, NH) came out firing on all cylinders shooting a 69 and 72 over the first two rounds. He remained focused for the third and final round to shoot the lowest score of the entire tournament with a 68, and a first-place total of 209. Hollander landed amongst the top of the leaderboard in most stat categories including seven-under on par fives and even on par three and par four holes.

All four of the other Redlands' golfers finished in the top-25 led by senior Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA). Cooper scored a 220 (73-71-76) to finish 17th. Sophomore Kyle Sharp (Austin, TX) and senior Dylan Merchant (Ellsworth, WI) followed close behind tying-for-19th place with a three-round total of 222. Merchant showed off his skill, landing atop the individual stats, shooting a tournament-leading eight-under on par fives for a 4.33 average. He was also just one of eight players to record an eagle on the weekend.

Senior Diego Cortes (Santiago, Chile) rounded out the teams' second-place showing, tied-for-22nd with a 225 (74-78-73) total.

The Bulldogs travel to Prescott, AZ on October 6th and 7th for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Co-Ed Invitational. The tournament will take place at the Antelope Hills Golf Course.
