The No. 8 University of Redlands men's golf team shot a 296 on the final day of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) tournament for a podium-finish in third place on Saturday.

Overall, the University of La Verne claimed the top spot with a collective score of 2057 over seven rounds of conference competition this season. The Bulldogs finished as runners-up with an aggregate score of 2061, while Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges ended the season in third with a total score of 2063.

First-year Kyle Sharp (Austin, TX) earned individual bronze medalist honors in his championship debut with a score of 219 through three rounds at the Brookside Golf Course in Pasadena.

Sharp shot the lowest score of the day with a 71 in round three, which resulted in a six-spot climb on the leaderboard for a third-place finish. One stroke behind Sharp, senior Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) and junior Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) finished with overall scores of 220 in a four-way tie for fourth place. Stroes shot a 77, while Cooper finished with 75 strokes on day three.

Senior Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) also shot a 75 in the final round to jump one spot into eighth with a final score of 223. Junior Jake Hollander (Peterborough, NH) followed with a 75 in a four-way tie for 12th to finish with a final tally of 225. Lastly, junior Diego Cortes (Santiago, Chile) shaved six strokes off of yesterday's score to tally a 75 to tie for 23rd place with an overall score of 230.

Individually, Cooper drained a tournament-high 14 birdies, while Stroes and Sharp each finished with 34 pars, which was third-best in the tournament. In addition to Stroes' eagle, he also held the third-best average of 3.10 on par-three holes and finished first in par fives with an average of 4.25. Cooper also performed well on par fives with a 4.38 average, which was ranked third in the field.

Redlands will wait for a possible at-large bid to the NCAA Division III Championships, which begin on Tuesday, May 14, in Nicholsville, Kentucky.
