Bulldog Men's Golf Registers Fifth-Place Showing at West Cup

The University of Redlands men's golf team took on tough competition at the West Cup on Monday and Tuesday at the Sierra La Verne Country Club.  With their solid opening round setting the tone, the Bulldogs finished fifth among 16 teams by earning a 54-hole score of 915 (296-311-308). 

Individually, sophomore Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) led the crew with his tied-for-seventh-place effort that came off of rounds of 75, 73, and 75 for a total of 223.  He knocked in nine birdies throughout the tournament.

Sophomore Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) and junior George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) tied for 29th in the overall individual standings with each recording a three-round score of 232.  Lawson shot the best round at 72 to open the tournament en route to posting seven birdies by the end of the third round.  Galanis posted steady results by ranking second among the entire field with 36 pars.

Freshman Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) and sophomore Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) tied for 35th with a grand total of 233.  Cooper proved to be the more consistent of the two with rounds of 78, 78, and 77, while Foxley impressed with his score of 74 on the opening 18 holes. 

Redlands returns to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition on Saturday, April 8, and Sunday, April 9, by teeing off against all member schools at Oak Quarry Golf Course in Riverside.
