The No. 13 University of Redlands men's golf team concluded the fall portion of the 2014-15 season with an outstanding effort during Monday and Tuesday's Cal State San Marcos Fall Classic at the Twin Oaks Golf Course.  With seniors Bobby Holden (Simi Valley, CA) and Anthony Estes (San Pedro, CA) leading the way, the Bulldogs won the event with a three-round total of 858, which was six strokes better than the runner-up squad from the host school.

Holden and Estes put together a formidable showing for the Maroon and Gray by finishing first and second, respectively.  With a 54-hole score of 206 (73-66-67), Holden earned medalist honors with a five-stroke lead over his teammate.  Holden shined in the final two rounds en route to topping all players on the par-four holes with his 3.77 average for minus seven.  He also landed the most birdies with 17 throughout the two-day event.

While compiling a three-round total of 211 (71-70-70), Estes ranked first among the field with a par-three score of 2.92 for minus one.  He also secured the most pars among the field with 39 to go along with 10 birdies.

Finishing sixth overall and third for the Maroon and Gray, junior John McCord (Oakland, CA) completed the outing with a total of 215 (73-73-69), which included the best par-five average among the competitors at 4.5 for minus six.

Finally, junior Matthew Sandoval (Redlands, CA) and freshman Jake Ryan (Portland, OR) rounded out the scoring quintet with respective marks of 231 (79-72-80) and 232 (75-78-79).  Sandoval impressed with the team's only eagle of the tournament, while Ryan registered 10 birdies during the competition.

Redlands opens the spring portion of its season on Feb. 21-22 when it travels to Valenica for the first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament of the year.  The event takes place at Robinson Ranch Golf Course.
