SCIAC Newcomer of the Year Griffin Barker and Senior David Menary Named First Team All-Conference

The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced earlier today that in addition to first-year forward Griffin Barker (Kirkland, CA) and senior forward David Menary (Grass Valley, CA) landing on the All-SCIAC First Team, Barker was also named the conference's Newcomer of the Year.

Barker enjoyed a strong rookie year with a team-high 14.8 points per game in conference action. In the nine SCIAC games he started in, he averaged 20.2 points per game. Barker is the most efficient shooter with a conference-leading 61.6% from the field and 51.5% from the perimeter. Barker also does work on the glass with 6.7 rebounds per game, which is sixth in the SCIAC. On the boards, he ranks third in the conference with 5.0 defensive rebounds.

His best game of the year came on the road with a career-high 36-point performance in a win over Whittier College. He shot 6-for-9 from the three-point line and completed the double-double with 11 rebounds.

Menary graces the First Team for the second consecutive year after averaging 14.2 points per game, which is 10th in the conference. He shoots 44.3% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc, along with a 71.7% rating from the free-throw line. Defensively, he paces the team with 0.9 blocks per game and reels in 4.6 rebounds a game.

Menary's strongest game of the season also came against Whittier with a 26-point performance. He shot 11-for-14 from the field and went 3-for-4 from the three-point line. He led the game with 12 rebounds and six assists.
