First-Year Forward Griffin Barker Earns his First SCIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Athlete of the Week Award

For the first time in his young career, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) named first-year forward Griffin Barker (Kirkland, WA) the conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week after two big wins for the Bulldogs last week.

Barker aided a strong defensive effort by the Bulldogs in a 2-0 week. In a game where the Bulldogs held Occidental College to 35.3% shooting from the field, Barker recorded a block to go along with his 14 points and four defensive rebounds. In the next 94-77 win against Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Barker helped Redlands hold the Sagehens to 35.6% shooting with a block and a steal. He also nearly notched a double-double with 19 points and eight boards.
