Craig Hunter named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week

REDLANDS, Calif. - The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Football Athletes of the Week in the eighth week of voting and University of Redlands junior linebacker Craig Hunter (Murrieta, CA) was selected as the SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career. 

Craig becomes the fifth Bulldog this season to earn SCIAC Athlete of the Week recognition joining Tyler Tremain (Folsom, CA), Evan Aguon (San Diego, CA), Vicente Garcia (Fontana, CA), and Andrew Kellstrom (San Bernardino, CA).       

Hunter racked up 13 total tackles, including a sack, one tackle for a loss and another for no gain to force a late turnover on 4th-and-1 against Pomona-Pitzer as the University of Redlands pulled off the win against the previously SCIAC unbeaten Sagehens 27-24 in OT. He also contributed on a tackle scrambling for a fumble on the second offensive possession of the game.

Redlands returns to the field for a big SCIAC Showdown this Saturday, November 5 at 1:00pm when they travel to take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with a SCIAC Championship Title on the line.
