SCIAC Football Weekly Release No. 7

REDLANDS, Calif. – The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced their Football Athletes of the Week in the seventh week of voting and University of Redlands junior place kicker Vicente Garcia (Fontana, CA) was selected as the Specialist of the Week for the first time this season but his fourth overall in his career.   

Garcia is now the third Bulldog Football player to be recognized this season joining Evan Aguon (San Diego, CA) and Andrew Kellstrom (San Bernardino, CA) who were selected as Specialist and Offensive Athletes of the Week, respectively.      

A week after being selected to the d3football.com Team of the Week Vicente came up clutch for the Bulldogs once again during their 36-19 victory over the University of La Verne over the weekend.  He was 3-for-4 on Field Goals (41 Yards-25 Yards-21 Yards) collecting 12 points for UR.  He also added four extra points.  Along with his kicking duties he was also the punter on the night totaling 108 yards on just two punts, averaging 54 Yards Per Punt with a long being for 59 Yards.  He had one called for a fair catch and saw both land inside the 20-yard line.   

Redlands remains at home this Saturday, October 29 when they host Pomona-Pitzer beginning at 1:00pm.
