Blake Roy and Nathan Hierlihy Reel in D3football.com All-West Region Accolades

It was announced earlier today that two University of Redlands student-athletes landed on the 2018 D3football.com All-West Region Team for their success on the field during the Bulldogs' run to a share of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championship.  Junior tight end Blake Roy (Camas, WA) garnered a spot on the Second Team, while senior kicker Nathan Hierlihy (Redondo Beach, CA) gained a Third-Team nod.

Roy collects his inaugural All-Region award in his third season with the Maroon and Gray.  In addition to providing key blocks for the offense, he served as the team's top receiver with 32 catches for 403 yards and six touchdowns while playing in nine games.  He averaged more than 12 yards per catch and hauled in a long of 46 yards in the Bulldogs' 20-12 win over George Fox University (OR) to open the season.  Furthermore, he broke into the end zone twice to help defeat the University of La Verne by a score of 35-17.

Hierlihy repeats as an All-Region selection in back-to-back seasons.  This year, he converted nine field goals, including a long of 48 yards that came in the season finale against Occidental College.  He split the uprights in a perfect 3-for-3 showing in the team's 51-23 triumph against Cal Lutheran University during the annual Smudge Pot game.  In 10 games played, Hierlihy went 35-for-37 on extra points for a 95% conversion rate.  He also led the Bulldogs in scoring with 62 points.

Earlier this season, Roy and Hierlihy represented the Maroon and Gray among the best in the conference as members of the All-SCIAC First Team.
