Senior Defensive Lineman Troy Kay Selected as SCIAC Football Defensive Athlete of the Week

Troy Kay was named the Football Defensive Athlete of the Week by the SCIAC.

Senior defensive lineman Troy Kay (New York City, NY) of the University of Redlands was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Football Defensive Athlete of the Week for his contributions in Saturday's game in McMinnville, OR.

This is the second such honor that the Bulldogs have gained so far this season, following sophomore defensive back Carl Holmes' (Fresno, CA) award on September 3.

With Kay's assistance, the Redlands defense gave up just 13 points to the No. 7 Linfield College (OR) Wildcats during last weekend's non-conference bout.  He helped control the line of scrimmage for the Bulldogs by registering seven total tackles, including four solo stops, and picked up two sacks for a loss of 14 yards.  Overall, he tallied three tackles for a loss of 16 in Redlands' first loss of the season.

In addition to Kay, Bulldog senior forward Kayvon Parsa (West Hills, CA) received the SCIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week award.

Redlands (2-1) looks forward to the bye week before heading to Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday, September 29, for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Sagehens.
