GREENSBORO, N.C. – The postseason awards continue for the University of Redlands Baseball team as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced Wednesday its Rawlings NCAA Division III All-Region teams, placing junior outfielder Jonah Advincula (Santa Clara, CA) and senior first baseman Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA) on the first team and sophomore second baseman Jared Anderson (Gilbert, AZ) on the second team.

Advincula and Kirkland are now automatically nominated for All-America status, which will be announced Friday.  The last time the University of Redlands had players selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-West Region team was back in 2018 when they had six players recognized for seven awards, which included Brendan Gardiner (1st Team | Position Player of the Year), Rainier Aguilar (1st Team), Aaron Singh (1st Team), Adam Stead (1st Team), Will Hall (1st Team), and Felix Minjarez (3rd Team).

Advincula put together a career year and was selected to the All-SCIAC 1st Team and the d3baseball.com All-West Region 1st Team.  He played in 39 games collecting 65 hits, which included three doubles, five triples, seven homeruns and 99 total bases.  He drove in 38 runs and scored 54 times, while batting .430, collecting an OBP of .540 and slugging .656.  But he wasn't just a threat at the plate, he was also a dual threat on the base paths stealing 28 bags along with drawing 27 walks.

Defensively, he was rock solid in left field posting a .965 fielding percentage with 80 putouts, three assists and a pair of double plays.  The 65 hits he recorded this year ties him for No. 3 in the University of Redlands Single-Season Record Books.  The 54 runs he scored now moves him to No. 5 and the 28 Stolen Bases places him in a tie for No. 4.

Kirkland also had a career year being named 1st Team All-SCIAC and 1st Team All-West Region by d3baseball.com along with being selected to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week.  He played in 37 games collecting 69 hits, which included 14 doubles, two triples, three homeruns and 96 total bases.  He drove in 60 and scored 35 times, while stealing 13 bases and drawing 15 walks.  He hit .454 on the year with an OBP of .497 and slugged .632.

Defensively he posted one of the best fielding percentages for a first baseman in Division III.  He finished the year with a .993 percentage with 263 putouts, 18 assists and 33 double plays.  The 69 hits this season puts him atop the University of Redlands record books for most base hits in a single season.  He also added five hits in a single game, which ranks him in a tie for No. 3.  His .454 batting average moves him into a tie at No. 6 and the 60 RBI's, places him alone at No. 1.

Anderson, who was named the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2021 receives his first post season recognition this season after playing in 39 games and hitting .387 with 65 hits, which included 13 doubles, 87 total bases and three homeruns.  He scored 48 times and drove in 38, while drawing 14 walks, collecting a .440 OBP and slugging .518.  In the single season University of Redlands record books, he is tied for No. 3 for hits (65) and tied for No. 8 for At-Bats (168).
