Junior Anthony Acosta Reels in SCIAC Baseball Hitter of the Week Award

It was announced on Monday that the University of Redlands hauled in four of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) athletes of the week, with junior third baseman Anthony Acosta (Simi Valley, CA) gaining the honor for Bulldog baseball as the hitter of the week.

During the Bulldogs' 3-1 week that included a three-game sweep of Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, Acosta contributed an impressive .526 batting average that included 10 hits.  His clutch triple in the ninth inning led to the game-winning run of the 4-3 victory over the Sagehens on Saturday afternoon.

In the opener of the series, he went 3-for-5 at the plate.

Overall, he scored five runs and provided five RBI.  He also stole one base and earned one walk.

Acosta currently sits fourth in the conference with 35 hits this season.

Acosta and the Bulldog baseball team (12-15-1, 6-6 SCIAC) head to Caltech on Friday, April 5, to face the Beavers in a conference showdown at 3 p.m. in Pasadena.
