The University of Redlands baseball team returned to action against the Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday afternoon in a non-conference game on the road.  In the teams' fourth meeting, the Bulldogs faced an uphill battle from the first inning and never recovered in a 2-8 loss.

After CMS jumped out to a three-run lead, Redlands pushed its first run across on junior second baseman Andrew Renteria's (Van Nuys, CA) RBI-double to left field in the top of the third.  He plated senior shortstop Aaron Singh (Anaheim, CA), who led off the frame with a free pass and moved to second on sophomore right fielder Cal Bridges' (Fremont, CA) single.

In the bottom of the third, the Bulldogs put together their first of three double-plays on the day, as Renteria, Singh, and senior first baseman Brendan Moore (Murrieta, CA) turned two to end the frame.  The defense remained sharp in the fourth with senior third baseman Eduardo Martinez-Razo (Rialto, CA), Renteria, and Moore orchestrating the sweet finish to the inning.  Finally, in the sixth, the Bulldogs registered their third double-play of the game, with this one beginning off sophomore left fielder Brennen Carr's (Chino Hills, CA) putout.

Nonetheless, the Stags had doubled their offensive output by the end of the fifth to put the Bulldogs in a five-run hole.

Redlands gained its final run in the top of the eighth when first-year pinch hitter Alex Olague (Renton, WA) doubled to left field to plate Renteria, who blasted a one-out single in the previous at-bat.

Redlands (7-10) faces Centenary College of Louisiana on Saturday, March 9, in a non-conference doubleheader at the Yard.  First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
