Redlands Athletic Equipment Policies

Redlands Athletic Equipment Policies

  • All athletic equipment, apparel, and assigned lockers are the property of the University of Redlands and may NOT be permanently altered in any way (cutting or marking) unless instructed directly by the Head Equipment Coordinator.
  • Student-athletes will have the opportunity to check out a shirt, shorts, and socks (sport appropriate). All items MUST be returned at the end of the season, except socks. Any items that are worn out or damaged can be replaced with a trade-in (within reason).
  • All laundry will be done daily; apparel only on issued laundry loops will be acceptable. Any laundry that is loose or falls off during laundry will be placed in a “lost and found” bin. Beginning with 2019-20 seasons, this bin will be located at Field House Equipment room to keep items from being taken out by other parties.
  • Student-athletes will be given one pair of game socks to comply with NCAA uniform standards. If the student-athlete needs to replace socks that are worn out, they can trade them in; however, if lost, they MUST pay for replacement cost.
  • The Head Athletic Equipment Coordinator and Coaches have the right to enter an assigned locker at any time. Student-athletes must not keep illegal or NCAA-banned substances in lockers; i.e., alcohol, any tobacco products, drugs, firearms, etc.
  • If at the end of a season, a student-athlete doesn't return a specific issued article, he/she will be charged automatically!  Charges will be based on the price to replace the said item, not necessarily the cost of an item – some items have up-charges based on small quantities. (It should be stressed to all student-athletes that the charges should be a deterrent, not an invitation to keep the item.)
  • Any student-athlete can obtain a mouth guard from the equipment room at any time. Sports that require mouth guards (i.e., football) will be issued a mouth guard on check-in day.
  • Student-athletes are permitted to wear any brand of athletic footwear. There will be opportunities given to student-athletes to purchase discounted shoes and cleats. As of 2018, Redlands is an Under Armor-sponsored school; therefore, only Under Armour footwear will be offered through the Equipment Room.
  • Football equipment will be maintained daily; however, it is still the responsibility of the student-athlete to keep track of his equipment and inform equipment staff of any fitting issues or equipment maintenance needed.
  • Personal football equipment is allowed under certain circumstances to be determined by Equipment staff. Please refer to recruiting packet (Equipment Guidelines will be included beginning 2019) or equipment room for necessary information.
