Cross Country Finishes 3rd/4th (W/M) at Waves Invitational

MALIBU, Calif. – The University of Redlands Cross Country teams returned to competition Saturday at the Waves Invitational where the women finished third and the men fourth.    

Men

On the men's side they had a team average time of 28:03, collecting 96 points. They were within 25 points of second-place Pepperdine University (Division I) and 15 away from Cal Poly.  They did come away with victories over Cal State Monterey Bay (106 Points) and Loyola Marymount (107 points).   

Enrique Verschoor (Mar del Plata, Argentina) led the way for the Maroon and Grey with an eighth-place finish, with six of the seven athletes ahead of him coming from Division I schools and one unattached runner. Verschoor ran his 8K in 27:21.3 with a 5:30.2 mile average. 

The Bulldogs had three other Top-30 finishers with Ronan Byrne (Portola Valley, CA) coming in 16th with a time of 27:46.8, Brandon Farnsworth (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) in 22nd who ran a 28:08.1 and Rogelio Salcido (Beaumont, CA) who was 30th with a 28:25.1 time.   


Women

The women's team continued their strong start to the season with a third-place finish, coming in behind Pepperdine University and Cal State Monterey Bay (Division II).  They totaled 74 points with a team average time of 2:02.02, with an average mile time of 6:33.   

Chloe Bullock (Hood River, OR) got her third Top-10 finish in as many races to start her sophomore season as she was the runner-up on Saturday morning. She ran her 6K in 23:17.0 with a mile average time of 6:14.7. 

First-Year Eve Mavy (Thayne, WY) continued her strong start to her career with a ninth-place finish in her first career 6K. She posted a solid 6:28.7 mile time.

Abigail Johnson (Westborough, MA) and Sheriane Greene (Grass Valley, CA) came in 19th and 20th place, respectively. They ran a 6:37.4 and 6:38.9. Sailor Brown (San Diego, CA) took 24th and gave the Bulldogs five Top-25 finishers. 

Redlands will have a couple weeks off before they head down to Riverside for the UCR Highlander Invitational on Saturday, October 15 with the races starting at 8:00 a.m.
