The University of Redlands women's water polo team returned home to the Thompson Aquatic Center for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) tilt against the Regals of Cal Lutheran University on Wednesday afternoon.  The Bulldogs struggled to counter the visitors' early offense and ultimately lost by a score of 2-11.

After the Regals surged out to 3-0 lead by the 4:24-mark of the first period, junior attacker Sami Walker (Taylorsville, UT) put Redlands on the board by lobbing in a goal from the perimeter as the shot clock expired.

However, CLU's offense remained hot and went on to score eight unanswered goals.

The Bulldogs had their chances but couldn't convert until the 3:59-mark of the final period.  First-year attacker Katelynn Holloman (Wildomar, CA) and sophomore attacker Olivia Allen (Santa Monica, CA) passed the ball back and forth before Allen fired one into the back of the net for the Maroon and Gray's second goal of the game.

Defensively, the Bulldogs held CLU to only one goal in each the second and fourth frames.  Junior defender Carmen Gardner (South San Francisco, CA) contributed to this effort by making four steals, while Allen added three.

The Bulldogs (6-18, 4-5 SCIAC) face two opponents on the road on Saturday, April 7, when they travel to Caltech for an 11 a.m. contest and then move onto Pomona-Pitzer Colleges for a 3 p.m. game.
