It was announced earlier today that the University of Redlands women's volleyball program has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for 2017-18.  The Bulldogs join 172 other NCAA Division III teams from around the country in garnering this distinction.

Redlands' 20-woman roster captured a cumulative team GPA of 3.385, which exceeded the minimum requirement of 3.30 to attain this achievement.  In addition, nearly half of the team boasted an academic mark of 3.50 or better.

The Bulldogs gain this scholarly award for the fourth consecutive time, with the last three coming under Head Coach Lisa Lindberg.

Amidst a record-setting showing, the AVCA honored the most schools in the award's 26-year history with 973, which included all levels of collegiate and high school volleyball.  In addition, the number of Division III schools increased by 23 from the year before to 173 for the second-most among all recognized groups in 2017-18.

For a complete list of the recipients, please visit the AVCA website.

The Redlands women's volleyball team returns to campus on Friday, August 17, and looks forward to competing in the Pacific Coast Classic on Friday, August 31, and Saturday, September 1.
