Bulldog Women's Tennis Snags Two All-SCIAC Awards

It was announced earlier today that the No. 27 University of Redlands women's tennis program gained two spots among the All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams.  While earning their inaugural awards, senior Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR) represents the Maroon and Gray on the First Team and junior Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) lands on the Second Team.

Throughout her final season, Johnson shored up the No. 1 slot in singles and mustered conference wins over her counterparts from Occidental College and Chapman University.  She also joined forces with first-year Halle Martinucci (Burlingame, CA) as a formidable doubles duo at the top of the lineup.  They finished the regular season with an 8-0 thrashing of their opponents from Chapman University to complete a 4-2 SCIAC record in doubles.

Lacy primarily competed at No. 2 singles and captured a huge, 6-4, 7-5 win over her foe from fifth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on April 19.  In doubles, she and sophomore Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) muscled out a 4-2 conference showing at the No. 2 spot.
