No. 27 Redlands Women's Tennis Falls to No. 5 Pomona-Pitzer on Senior Day

The No. 27 University of Redlands women's tennis team squared off against the fifth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday's Senior Day on Verdieck Courts.  After celebrating seniors Madison Ross (San Diego, CA), Elizabeth Johnson (Portland, OR), and Kate Dolan (St. Louis, MO), the Bulldogs worked for an upset but suffered a 2-7 defeat.

Redlands battled to a pair of 5-8 losses at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles but entered the singles with a significant uphill battle.  The visitors maintained the momentum and sealed the match in an efficient matter.

The Bulldogs gained their first point of the team scoring when sophomore Karen Kobayashi (Sappora, Japan) pushed past her No. 3 opponent, 6-4, 6-4.  Junior Jackie Lacy (Palm Desert, CA) followed her lead with a 6-4, 7-5 result at the No. 2 slot.

Redlands (7-11, 3-3 SCIAC) heads to Chapman University on Saturday, April 20, for the final dual-match of the regular season, which is slated for 10 a.m. The Bulldogs strive to secure the No. 4 seed in the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament with a win over the Panthers.
